Antenatal Courses
Antenatal courses are held at our Frenchay venue in North Bristol on Thursday evenings 7:00pm to 9:15pm
All courses are limited to just 7 mums, and one birth partner each
Courses are delivered over a 5 week period. Enrolling in a course to attend between 28 and 32 weeks of your pregnancy means that the 5 week course will conclude before week 37 of your pregnancy giving you time to prepare for the expected delivery date of your baby.
Each course is made up of 5 classes (one class each week for 5 consecutive weeks). Each class covers different topics, is 2 hours in duration, and is interactive within a social environment providing an ideal opportunity to meet other parents to be.
Week 1
- Introductions, ideas, concerns, and expectations
- Preparation for labour, mechanism of birth, stages of labour
- Coping mechanisms for latent / early phase of labour
- The importance of monitoring baby's movements
Week 2
- The induction of labour, pain relief
- Assisted births and caesarean sections
- This session includes our obstetrician Sophie
Week 3
- Changes to your relationship and becoming a family
- Introduction to hypnobirthing and relaxation
- This session will be lead by our mental health midwife Gemma
Week 4
- Parentcraft skills, feeding your baby, nappy changing, baby health
- Practical advice about equipment, sterilising feeding equipment
- Bathing your baby
- The session includes our infant feeding specialist Cathy
Week 5
- Role of the birth partner
- Caring for your pelvic floor
- This session includes our pelvic health physiotherapist Jen
- Answering outstanding questions, specific topics, or recaps raised during classes
- Arrange postnatal gathering with your group

Course Dates 2024 / 2025
Each course of 5 classes costs £185. All courses are limited to just 7 mums, and one birth partner each.
