Meet Cathy

Hi, I’m Cathy Bowker. I live in north Bristol with my husband, 2 daughters and energetic, geriatric rescue pug, Coco. I’ve been a qualified midwife for over 20 years, and a Bristol based NHS infant feeding specialist for the last 10. I am passionate about supporting families in their journey with their new baby/s, helping to navigate a path that fits with the unique and beautiful, ‘them’. If I’m not at work you’ll find me at home working on a new craft project, at a gig mesmerised by musicians or in a field with Coco, full of the joy she brings.

Meet Wendy

Introducing Wendy, who will give an introduction to hypnobirthing. She is an experienced midwife whose passion it is to provide caring and supportive guidance during this remarkable, joyful, yet sometimes anxious and stressful time. She has a wealth of knowledge in both complementary therapies and birthing physiology to help and support you throughout your journey to parenthood.

Meet Sophie

Sophie is a doctor who has been specialising in Obstetrics and Gynaecology for the last 10 years. She is passionate about maternity training and worked with Jane to introduce effective multi-professional training for midwives, obstetricians and anaesthetists nationally in Wales to improve care for women in obstetric emergencies. Sophie lives in Bristol with her husband David and has just recently welcomed her own baby into the world in June this year.

Meet Gemma

Hi, I’m Gemma, a qualified midwife for 20 years and mum to two brilliant daughters. I’ve spent time working in many different areas of midwifery over the years, including teaching hypnobirthing. In 2019 I completed my training as a Birth Trauma Resolution practitioner and I practice this both privately and within the NHS, this helped lead me to my current role as a mental health midwife at Southmead Hospital. My team offers bespoke mental health support through pregnancy and into the postnatal period. I absolutely love my job and feel honoured to walk alongside women and birthing people and their loved ones during this hugely transformative time.

Meet Jen

She is currently co-leading a project in Bristol, North Somerset, and South Gloucestershire (BNSSG) to improve pelvic healthcare for pregnant and postnatal women, with a focus on preventing, identifying and treating pelvic floor problems during and after pregnancy. Jen works in the NHS as an advanced practice physiotherapist and is involved in running the obstetric anal sphincter injury clinic at Southmead Hospital. When she’s not at work she’s chasing around after her two year old twin boys.
